ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION INTO THE STEVEN A. KING HOUSE

1. An applicant may refer to staff counsel that is based on the principles and precepts of the Bible.

2. Applicant must be willing to live a sober and drug free life.

3. An applicant will not be admitted without an emergency contact. We reserve the right to request a BCI check.

4. There is a $75.00 application fee that is required. Along with a security deposit equal to the first week's payment

5. An applicant must be a current graduate of a long term six (6) to nine (9) month residential drug and alcohol program. However, a graduate of a short-term 21-90 day residential program will be considered for admittance on a case by case basis and with additional program requirements.

6. An incarcerated applicant will be considered for residency providing he has completed a drug and alcohol program.

7. The applicant must not be guilty of charges of endangering the life of another person(s).

8. Sex Offenders will not be considered for this program.

9. The applicant must also have or be willing to acquire a competent accountability partner/sponsor who has the freedom and courage to ask the "hard" questions.

10. Gender and age requirement: The applicant must be a man at least 21 years old.

11. The applicant must be able to climb stairs and able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

12. The applicant must be physically able to sleep in an upper bunk bed if necessary.

13. The applicant must be willing to live in community with men who are recovering from their addictive behavior and may have health conditions that are associated with substance abuse.

14. An applicant must be employed or willing and able to obtain gainful employment. A person who is on Social Security Disability or Social Security Insurance may be considered for occupancy at the Next Step Sober House. In addition, if a guest receives SSD or SSI he then will be required to volunteer ten (10) hours a week at a nonprofit organization of their choosing. We believe giving back is a healthy part of recovery.

15. The applicant must have the ability to pay the agreed upon program weekly fee for living in The Steven A. King House

16. The Steven A. King House will not accept anyone who is on any prescribed narcotic medication or benzodiazepine. Any and all medication must be prescribed by a doctor and acceptable in the house. Unfortunately, the program is not equipped to care for the dual-diagnosed individuals.
